Kayla DeNigris, CEO & Lead RDN

How My Journey Began

Kayla's passion for nutrition stemmed from her own struggles with digestive conditions growing up. After years of battles with acid reflux, gut dysbiosis, gastritis, food intolerances and esophagitis, she finally found healing when she turned to nutrition and holistic practices. Down the line she graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and went on to complete her dietetic internship with Sodexo. Her internship took place during the rise of the pandemic, where she was challenged with caring for a wide variety of patients, including intubated COVID patients in the ICU. During her rotations within the internship, she also worked with pediatric patients, individuals with eating disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, heart disease, and those seeking support with weight loss. She completed her clinical experience at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey and her outpatient rotations with three different local private practices.

After completing her internship requirements, she passed her registered dietitian credentialing exam and began building her private practice. Kayla's private practice, Nutrikay Wellness, specializes in pediatrics and women's health but cares for all patients’ needs. Kayla's love for pediatric nutrition stemmed from her 10 years of experience babysitting and nannying in the Cranford/Westfield area. She has dedicated a lot of her continuing education and research to pediatrics and women's health as well. Her approach to counseling is 100% patient-centered and each nutrition plan is catered to the individual in order to create sustainable and achievable results. She strives to make her patients feel comfortable, seen and heard.

”My approach to care stems from the motivational interviewing technique, which includes providing my patients with nutrition education so that they can have autonomy over their wellness. I strive to meet my patients where they are in their health journey to support life-long results as well as truly listen to and walk through their experience so far.”

Kelsey Comyack RDN

How My Journey Began

Kelsey is a Registered Dietitian with a longstanding passion for serving her community and exploring nutrition. Her career began with earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. There she experienced many volunteer and internship opportunities, from helping those with food insecurity at Lunch Break foodbank in Redbank all the way to living in Dublin, Ireland for three months working alongside incredible mentors at Youth Advocate Programmes, Inc.

Upon graduation, she spent time in Charleston, SC, working to open a nonprofit. In 2019, she was called back home to New Jersey after the passing of her father, whose cancer journey opened her eyes to the world of dietetics. It was nutrition and the support of her father’s registered dietitian that helped prolong the time her family shared. Unknowingly, this would be the start of her future in nutrition.

After COVID temporarily closed the residential military school where Kelsey was a youth counselor, she, like many others, took the time to reflect on her passions. With the support of friends and family, Kelsey went back to school and received her dietetics degree from Montclair State University. There, she volunteered at the John Theurer Cancer Center in Hackensack, NJ, completed 4 years of schooling, 1,180 hours of a supervised internship, and passed a board exam to become a registered dietitian.

Throughout her internship, she was consistently drawn to the unique challenges and opportunities working in pediatric and maternal health. Now, as a registered dietitian, Kelsey loves helping families navigate the challenges of starting solid foods, picky eating, and simply exploring new foods with little ones. Kelsey’s experience as a nanny and babysitter from her high school years throughout her studies at Montclair State has provided the experience and nuance to navigate pediatric nutrition. Having also interned with a top private practice for fertility nutrition, Kelsey understands the role food plays in women’s health on both a large scale and on the individual level.

Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all, and Kelsey’s way of counseling is working with the individual, meeting them where they are in order to bring about the healthiest outcomes. Combining techniques of motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy, Kelsey works to not only help you empower yourself but also focus on the behaviors and thinking behind the choices you may be making so you have the tools to create long-lasting improvements.
